Staying at Greta Hall

Greta Hall is our home.
When considering a stay at Greta Hall it is important that we live here with our family. The Coleridge Wing and Old Wash House are wings of the main house and you will hear us from time to time. To date no guests have mentioned that they found any noise intrusive.

Smoking
Greta Hall is strictly non-smoking both in the accommodation and in the grounds.

Welcome Pack

You will find a 'tea tray' on your arrival - Fair Trade tea & coffee, sugar, milk, homemade cake or biscuits and the local newspaper.

The following are provided for the start of your stay; loo roll for each toilet, environmentally friendly cleaning products, hand soap (cloakroom toilets) & washing-up liquid, dishwashing sponge & cleaning cloths. We do not provide dishwasher tablets.

Reducing the ecological impact of your stay
At Greta Hall we are commited to ensuring that our business is environmentally & socially responsible. We have developed a 'green policy', working towards a Green Tourism Business Award and participated in Visit Britain's 'Green Start' pilot scheme.

Pets
We are very happy to have your pets to stay (by prior arrangement) in the entrance areas to accommodation. Please check individual accommodation details and our 'terms & conditions'. We prefer that you don't 'plastic bag' dog waste, we'll provide a spade and show you where to dump it & let nature get to work!

Naturally Good Food at Greta Hall
At Greta Hall we offer delicious no-nonsense (mostly vegetarian & vegan) meals for sharing, simply cooked from the best ingrediants delivered to your door. Just give us 24 hours notice and your supper will be waiting for you when you come in from a long day. Our fresh food is locally sourced & organic where possible (often from our garden) and many of our ‘store cupboard’ ingredients are organic. All our food is cooked from ‘scratch’ & we do not use any prepared sauces.

We also bake cakes (Everyday, Fancy a Treat & Special Occasion) and bread!

Email us for our menu and prices.

Wi-Fi
The Coleridge Wing & Old Wash House have wireless internet connection for both Mac and PC. We can email the log-in codes in advance of your stay. Sorry, at the moment we do not provide Wi-Fi to the Coach House.

Gardens
Greta Hall has a large (often untidy!) communal garden. We have very free range chickens & ducks - if you are bringing a dog please keep a close eye on them.

A rough path runs down through the 'untamed' woods to the River Greta. The river is shallow enough to paddle, dogs & children love it. You can canoe from here down into Derwentwater. We also have the fishing rights (brown trout) if you're interested.

You'll find tables & chairs, benches, large BBQ, swings, rope swing over the river, half built tree dens, 'little tykes' play equipment, two zip wires for different age groups, a children's bungy trampoline, trampoline (with safety net), goal post, etc. We hope all our guests will use and enjoy them.

Housekeeping / Final Cleaning
We rely on our guests respecting the accommodation and ensuring it is left as found. In theory, we should just need to make-up the beds & dust between guests.

All accommodation is equiped with all necessary cleaning products and appliances, we can arrange a cleaner to do your final cleaning if you would prefer. Details are in the terms & conditions.
