UPDATE 15th January 2010- HAITI Earthquake

Following the news of the devastating earthquake in Haiti we have decided to divert some of the moneys donated by our guests to purchase a SHELTER BOX. The remainder of the donation being made up from our own family.

For more information please follow the link http://shelterbox.org
In a couple of weeks we will receive a unique Shelter Box number which will enable us all to track 'our' Shelter Box on its way to help those who so desperately need support.

Donations collected for CWSN will still be sent to Nepal as collected at the end of February when our daugther travels there to work as an intern for four months.

We have chosen three different projects which support vulnerable people and places
We invite our guests to donate £1 per person per week - donations made once we raise £500

Child Welfare Scheme Nepal

As a family we have been involved with CWSN for 15 years. CWSN is an international development organisation, dedicated to supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people in Nepal. We work closely with local Nepalese organisations, on projects which are child-focused, child-friendly, and aim to empower children and communities to create a brighter future for themselves. Even small donations go a long way - £500 will subsidise meals for street children for 5 months.

The Woodland Trust

The Woodland Trust campaigns to protect ancient woods, improve woodland biodiversity, increase native woodland cover and increase understanding and enjoyment of woods. A £500 donation protects an acre of woodland.

Cumbrian Wildlife Trust

Cumbria Wildlife Trust is the only voluntary organisation devoted solely to the conservation of the wildlife and wildplaces of Cumbria. The Trust stands up for wildlife, creates wildlife havens, and seeks to raise environmental awareness. £500 will help care for the 40 Cumbrian nature reserves.
